  • WFMW: Low-Fat Pizza Sub

Okay, so it's Wednesday!  Time to try the next Works for Me subject.  This week the theme is recipes that take less than 5 ingredients.  Man, I'm all aboWfmwbannerut those kind of recipes, since I don't really like to cook that much.  But most of the things I make can already be found with a box that has the recipe on the side.  Who wants a Kraft Macaroni and Cheese post?  But I do make a few other things, so I decided to post one of my faves today.

It is what I call a Low-Fat Pizza Sub.  I love to make it because I love pizza and seem to crave pizza a lot.  This serves as a substitute that quiets my sometimes very loud cravings. It's pretty straightforward and of course, I make the Single Girl's version.  I'm sure everyone out there can figure out how to adapt it for a family.  (And it's a low fat version, but the full version is even better.)

    1.  Buy French bread from the deli section of the grocery store.                                  wfmw pizza sub 007

    2.  Buy Hormel turkey pepperoni and deli mozzarella cheese (part skim).

    3.  Slice the bread down the center and place cheese and pepperoni.

    4.  Place in oven (open-faced) set at 350 degrees.  I set it on the pizza stone.

    5.  After 6 minutes remove the sub.

    6.  Serve with a nice can of Mountain Dew.  (Yes, counteracts the low fat-ness, but hey...)

    7.  I have also used the pepperoni, cheese, spinach, fat free dressing, and black olives to make a nice accompanying salad.  Pretty satisfying!

This is how it Works for Me:  It is low-fat, filling, easy, and meets the cravings so I don't do something crazy like eat a whole pizza for supper--not that I would do something like that...
