WFMW: Ribbon Necklaces
I'm really excited about this next tip because I love all of the parts of it. Whenever I am getting dressed, I am always trying to think of the perfect accessories for whatever I have on. Some of my favorite types of jewelry are the artsy-type jewelry pieces. Unfortunately, I don't really own too many pieces that really fit what I am thinking of, but I always have in my mind what I wish I had. I usually want something in the brown family with a funky type of chain (especially necklaces).

I also really like ribbons. I loved to wear ribbons in my hair growing up. I would go to Wal Mart and pick out fun ribbons, cut them off and wear them in my hair. Well, even though, I am all grown up, I still like to keep pretty ribbons and occasionally wear them in my hair.
Recently, I discovered this little piece of jewelry that I had, but the necklace that came with it was out of style. I aready threw the necklace part away, but I still had the pendant that came on it. I was trying to think of what I could wear with it, when. I thought of ribbons! Now, that I've done it a few times, I love it! Here's how it Works for Me: You can change out the ribbons that you want to use to match your outfits. I think the ribbons add a little bit more of femininity and it makes me happy cause the necklace kind of fits in my idea of "artsy." Oh, and if you cut the ribbon long enough, you can also adjust the length of the necklace to fit the neckline of your shirt! Pretty fun! Here are some pictures--btw, I took some of the necklace on my neck, but after I looked at them, there was NO WAY, I was going to let you see my neck like that! (Maybe I should invest in some turtlenecks?)

love the necklaces idea! very smart and cute. i kind of did that with a pendant my great grandmother picked up on a trip to israel. it's mother of pearl design (off white) in a brown frame, very cool, but with a pin. i wasn't about to pin it, so i strung it on a piece of leather shoelace instead. sounds funny, but it looks great. :)
I like to make ribbon lanyards for my work ID. That way I can match it to my outfit, or just have something fun to look at all day.
@rachelserine - Wow, that pendant sounds really neat. It's especially cool that it has some history. That leather shoelace idea is good, too; I think I might try that next.
Great idea Kristin. I love the lanyard idea too. Maybe I could get some cute green ribbon since I love green and then when I don't wear green I could still have something on me. Craft stores have super cute ribbons. Ideas are endless. Just a question.. Do bows stay tied the whole time?
@itsmel101 - Good idea on the craft store. I'm thinking I might go check some out this weekend. I like to get fabric for my bulletin boards at school, too, so maybe I can get some of that at the same time.
Just wanted you to know I stopped by and looked around your site after posting what I was grateful for this week on the other one. Enjoyed it and said a quick prayer for you! Have a great weekend!
